Crossing of the Douro on boat
An unforgettable experience between Caldas de Aregos and the railway station of Aregos. The legend says that to enable the crossing of the river, the first kings of Portugal created for the poor of that time, the so-called "Barcas de por Deus” ("Barges of God"), free passages in places where the people needed most.

Train trip to Meinedo, Lousada
Church of Saint Mary of Meinedo
Building of late construction, the Church of Meinedo may correspond to the rebuilding of an ancient hermit monastery which would have been erected in the same location in the 11th century, renovating an old 7th century Swabian-Visigothic building. The current building would date from the 13th century, a fact attested by the 1262 inscription at the entrance of the Church. The Church enjoys great prestige, since Meinedo was once the seat of a Bishopric in the 6th century.
Lunch at the restaurant Pitarisca
AFTERNOON Church of Saint Mammes of Vila Verde
A beautiful specimen of late Romanesque, in which some traces of the mural painting made by master Arnaus in the 16th century can still be seen.
Tower of Vilar
Built in the second half of the 13th century or early 14th century, this Tower, 14 meters high, more than a military construction, is a symbol of feudal power over the territory...
