Memorial of Sobrado
The Memorials of Alpendorada, Sobrado, Ermida and Santo António are, according to the legend, related to Princess Mafalda, daughter of King Sancho I and granddaughter of King Afonso Henriques. These are traditionally referred to as a stopping point on the transfer of her body to the Monastery of Arouca. These monuments have a symbolic value of great interest, especially since this typology can only be found in the Portuguese territory.
Lunch at the restaurant Miradouro

Hill Fort of Monte Mozinho
The occupation in this village lasted longer than usual in these ancient cities. The earliest traces date back to the first century AD and continued until the Middle Ages. It occupies an area that exceeds 200 thousand square meters.

Memorial of Ermida
A monument of great interest and that corresponds to a typology of which only six buildings are left in the whole country.
Monastery of the Saviour of Paço de Sousa
A monument quite crucial for understanding the architecture of the Romanesque of the Tâmega and Sousa. Its singular features, in architecture as in sculpture, and the fact that it retains the tomb of Egas Moniz, the schoolmaster and governor of the first king of Portugal, turn this former Benedictine monastery into one of the most appealing and prestigious testimonies of the Portuguese Romanesque architecture.
EVENING Check-in at the Penafiel Park Hotel****
Dinner at the restaurant A Cozinha da Terra

Church of Saint Mammes of Vila Verde
A beautiful specimen of late Romanesque, in which some traces of the mural painting made by master Arnaus in the 16th century can still be seen.
House of the "Pão-de-Ló" of Margaride
Taste the famous "Pão de Ló" (sponge cake) and the “Cavacas” of Margaride, in their House Museum in Felgueiras, and enjoy the huge wood-fired ovens, built in 1730, on the occasion of its foundation.

The typical streets, the Convent of Saint Gonçalo and the bridge over the river Tâmega will certainly surprise you! The famous convent pastry of Amarante, available in the local bakeries, will awaken your gluttony ...
Monastery of the Saviour of Travanca
The Monastery of Travanca, considered one of the most important Benedictine temples in the country, represents one of the most rhythmic spaces of Romanesque architecture in Portugal. The tower, which should date from the late 13th century or early 14th century, deserves special attention for being one of our highest medieval towers. At the end of the visit we say farewell with a concert of Gregorian chants.
