The Cine-Teatro de Amarante opened in 1947 as a cinema and until the 1980s it was a cultural landmark. In July 2000, Amarante City Council acquired the building, which was already in a state of disrepair, with the aim of returning it to the city.
The requalification of this cultural facility took place between 23 May 2019 and 19 September 2023, the day it reopened its doors, with a 386-seat performance hall, a bookshop and a piano bar & vinotheque.
