Monte Mozinho is a fortified settlement with three lines of walls, which was built on the summit of the hill and joined three parishes of Penafiel (Galegos, Oldrões and Valpedre), taking up an area of over 200.000 m2. It is characterized by an urban design that combines the hill fort tradition with the Roman culture which are displayed in the courtyard-homes with circular shapes and a foyer and in the regular layout of the streets. This settlement underwent a fairly long occupation - which lasted from the 1st century AD until after the 5th century AD - and is definitely worth visiting, together with the Interpretive Centre and the Municipal Museum of Penafiel that can provide you with additional information.
