The incredibly rich archaeological collection found in Tongobriga proves that, on that site, there was once an ancient Roman city. In addition to the value of this heritage, Tongobriga still has the features of a traditional village shown in its granite houses, its religious heritage, its cultivated windrows and its people. The house of Freixo and the parish church of Saint Mary are worth highlighting, both integrated into the Caminhos de Tongobriga pedestrian route. You can also visit the Tongobriga Interpretive Centre, which is part of a series of facilities offered to all those who visit the Freixo Archaeological Area.
