Vale de Papas, "Aldeia de Portugal" [Village of Portugal], is located in the heart of the Montemuro mountain, at an altitude of over a thousand meters. The village stands out for its yellow granite houses, some of which still have thatched roofs, its chapel, the granaries and the community threshing floor.
