Dating back to the 16th century, the old Casa de Covela, comprising the ruins of a Renaissance manor, the wine presses and the chapel, has been witnessing the production of wine and the historical importance of this property for centuries.
More recently, Covela belonged to Manoel de Oliveira (1908-2015), one of the most important European filmmakers of all time.
Located on the border between the granitic area of the Vinho Verde Region and the shale region of the Port Wine Region, Quinta de Covela has 45 hectares, of 18 are planted with vines, with panoramic views over the river Douro.
