Casal do Outeiro de Leirós, also known as the Casal do Outeiro, is located in the "vinho verde" [slightly sparkling white or red wine from the North of Portugal] region, 8 km away from Penafiel. Built in the 14th century, it was owned by the family of Martim Gonçalves Alcoforado, to whom King João I gave the Lordship of the Municipality of Santa Cruz de Riba-Tâmega in 1390.
