The Church of Saint Vincent of Sousa, in Felgueiras, is set to undergo conservation, preservation and enhancement works starting this week.

The project, scheduled to last 150 days, will focus on the church’s roofing, walls, ceilings, doors and windows, as well as the bell tower and the cross.

The contract for the works was signed on the afternoon of Monday 15 June, at a ceremony attended by, amongst others, the Mayor of Felgueiras, Nuno Fonseca, the President of the Union of Parishes of Torrados and Sousa, Sandra Teixeira, the representative of the Parish Church Board, José Silva, the Director of the Route of the Romanesque, Rosário Correia Machado, and the managing partner of Bel-Heritage, Belmiro Xavier.

The project will involve an investment of around €103,000, 75% of which is co-financed by the European Union through the NORTE 2030 Regional Programme, and 25% by the Municipality of Felgueiras, as part of the operation “Rotas do Norte: Conservation and Safeguarding of the Heritage of the Route of the Romanesque”, submitted by the Associação de Municípios do Vale do Sousa (VALSOUSA).
