Mr. Barros was born in Lousada, but has been living in Marco de Canaveses since 1978. About ten years later, he was invited by the parish priest to be the carer of the Church of Saint Nicholas. In addition to this duty, he is extraordinary minister of the holy communion, reader at the Eucharist and opens the door of the Church whenever necessary.
'It's quite an old church ... we always take pleasure in these things ... it's an asset for local people!', he says, proudly. After joining the Route of the Romanesque, his Church has been receiving many tourists, essentially organised groups, who love going there because the church 'is very well located, next to the river, it's wonderful.'
