The Caminho de Torres [Torres Way] is named after its most famous pilgrim, the Salamanca writer Diego de Torres Villarroel (1694-1770).

It is a Jacobean route, almost 600 kilometres long, which runs along old medieval roads that connected Salamanca and the interior of Portugal to the west of the peninsula and the coastal routes that allowed access to Santiago de Compostela.

The stage links the historic centre of Amarante and the city of Felgueiras and is 20.5 km long, passing by the Romanesque church of Telões.
