The project Ver do Bago, a toast between God and Man celebrated the material and symbolic relationship between the vineyard and the cultural and human landscape of the Sousa, Douro and Tâmega valleys, in a cycle of three exhibitions promoted by the Route of the Romanesque, between 13 May 2021 and 26 June 2022: Ver do Bago nos Mosteiros (Monastery of Ancede, Baião); Ver do Bago nos Santos (Church of Capuchos, Penafiel) and Ver do Bago no Sangue (Interpretation Centre of the Romanesque, Lousada).
Now, in this 'washing of the baskets', the time has come for us to invite you to an event with a dual purpose: to share with us the public acknowledgement of the dozens of people and entities that contributed to the success of the Ver do Bago project; to get to know the two publications resulting thereof, the Ver do Bago catalogue - which brings together the 50 sacred art and archaeology pieces displayed in the exhibitions, and the poetic anthology Verso do Bago - which evokes references to the wine heritage, in its multiple idiosyncrasies, present in the works of some of the most remarkable Portuguese authors.
The event, with free admission, will take place at the Interpretation Centre of the Romanesque on Monday, 17 April at 3 p.m.
At the end of the event, there will be a 'Verde de Honra' (Verde wine cocktail), because, as Eça de Queiroz wrote to Ramalho Ortigão in 1873, '… I constantly think about the beautiful roads of Minho, about the white cold villages - so cold! - about the good Verde wine that elevates the soul...'.
