In this 2025-2026 academic year, the Route of the Romanesque will launch its first School of the Year Award.

This distinction aims to recognise and value the work of schools that integrate the Route of the Romanesque (RR) project into their Activity Plan in a continuous and coordinated manner throughout the academic year.

The activities mentioned should cover at least two of the following areas:

• Educational workshops (arts, heritage, science, etc.);
• Interdisciplinary projects;
• Study visits and field trips to RR monuments and interpretation centres;
• Production of materials (exhibitions, videos, publications, theatre, podcasts, etc.);
• School curricula that focus on developing Heritage, Culture and Art skills;
• Involvement of the local community.

Schools or school groups (public and private) from the 86 municipalities of the Northern Region of Portugal are eligible to apply for the award.
